- McKINNON, John - passed away after a lengthy illness on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital. Beloved husband for 58 years to Verna. Lovingly remembered by his children, Jim (Ingrid), Joan (Roger Blackwell), Juanita (Dennis) Nolan. Special grandpa to Sylvia, Lisa and Brodie. Also loving father to Christena, Butch and Bernie. Will be missed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his son, Dickie. John was a World War Two Veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Waterloo). He was an avid card player and bowler and loved to watch a good boxing match. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited for a service of remembrance to celebrate John's life on Thursday, July 29th at 11 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 19 Regina St. N. Waterloo with Rev. William Shafer officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or Freeport Health Center of Grand River Hospital by contacting Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel at 742-4481
