  • Notes
    • Nikolas (Nicholas) Schlotzhauer was my Great, Great Grandfather on my Mother's side. He died July 20, 1902 and is buried in the Old cemetery in Hanover. He emigrated from Klings, Thuringia, Germany, arriving in Quebec City with his wife and family on May 15, 1856. They came by train to Hespeler where they stayed only three months before moving to Grey County, Normandy Township, near Hanover. It appears later they moved to Lot 11, Conc 2, Bentick Township. I believe his father was Johannes, born in Germany about 1790. There were several other Schlotzhauer families who settled in Rostock, in Perth County, and who share relatives of Nicholas by marriage. It seems very likely that the two families were related.
