  • Notes
    • Friends and neighbors were shocked to hear of the rather sudden death of a highly respected and esteemed resident of Elmira for the past nineteen years in the person of Andrew Wilson, who passed away at his residence on Friday Dec. 30th, 1938. The late Mr. Wilson had been a resident of the district all his life having been born and raised on a farm between Wallenstein and Macton, and it was from this farm he retired to Elmira nineteen years ago to the day of his death.

Confined to his bed for three weeks the end came unexpectedly to his wife and family, although he had suffered from ill-health for the past two years.

Mr. Wilson at the time of his death was 73 years of age. His active life had been spent in farming until he retired to Elmira. He was a member of Gale Presbyterian Church and had served on its Board of Management.

The funeral was held from his late residence on Monday, January 2nd, with Rev. J. S. Wright, B.A., of Gale Presbyterian Church in charge of the services. The following served as pallbearers; G. Reuter, Wm. Moser, C. Hermann, A. Pfaff, L. Lee, P. Beisel.

Surviving relatives are his wife, one son, Clare, teacher at Creekbank; and two daughters, Pearl and Nellie, both living in Kitchener. One brother predeceased him four years ago, and four sister survive, name: Mrs. Steiss (Hannah), Brodhagen; Mrs. Stewart (Elsie), Elstow, Sask., Mrs. Ella Mayberry, Guelph; Mrs. Bella Powell, Elmira.

The remains were laid to rest in Elmira cemetery with the funeral in charge of Mr. C. Dreisinger, funeral director.
