    • Mrs. D. C. [sic] Lichty Passes Suddenly
Dies from Brain Hemorrhage Sustained at Daughter's Home Near Heidelberg; was in 63rd year

Conestogo and the surrounding district were shocked on Friday last with the receipt of news of the death of Mrs. David Lichty of near Conestogo, who died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. Schneider, on Thursday afternoon.

The late Mrs. Lichty who was in her 63rd year had gone to her daughter's home near Heidelberg with a view to spending a week there. About mid-afternoon Mrs. Lichty complained of feeling faint. Shortly afterward she sustained a brain hemorrage which resulted in her death. Mrs. Lichty, nee Marian Peppler, was born on the Peppler homestead, east of Elmira in 1867. She married David C. Lichty. Following her marriage, she resided on the Lichty homestead, northwest of Winterbourne, moving later to her home near Conestogo.

Her husband and two sons, Irwin and Gordon at home, and two daughters, Edna, Mrs. Herbert Schneider, Heidelberg and Clara, Mrs. George Dreisinger, survive. Two sisters, Mrs. George Miller, West Montrose and Mrs. Irvin Beisel, Elmira, together with several grandchildren also survive.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon with services at the home at 1: 30 o'clock, thence to St. James's Lutheran Church, Elmira. Rev. Mr. Kalbfleisch officiating. Interment was made in Elmira cemetery [St. James Lutheran]. The pall-bearers were: Messrs. Orrie Hollinger, J. Conrad, Ed Geisel, Gordon Yundt, Cecil Heipel and Clayton Miller. Owing to the stormy weather and the condition of the highway many friends and relatives from Kitchener and Waterloo were unable to be present to pay their last respects to the deceased lady, the road being closed over the weekend.
