Shoemaker, -- Joseph, was born on the Shoemaker homestead Feb. 10, 1862, and resided there until death, April 15, 1951; aged 89 y. 3 m. 5 d. Death was caused by Various physical disorders. In March, 1886, he married Eliza Burkhardt, who died in November, 1916. To this union were born 2 sons (Israel, living on the home farm, and Edwin, who died at birth). In December, 1919, he was united in marriage to Lovina Snider, who died in May, 1930. In his early manhood he united with the Mennonite Church and later became a charter member of the Floradale Mennonite Church where he remained a faithful member until death. The three and one-half years he regularly attended the Bethel Mennonite Church. He leaves to mourn 1 son and daughter-in-law, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters (Jane-Mrs. Jake Dreisinger, Elmira, Ont.; Katie-Mrs. Dilman Brubacher, St. Jacobs, Ont.; and Rachel-Mrs. Noah Lichty, Floradale, Ont.), and many relatives and friends. Services were held at the Floradale Mennonite Church May 17, in charge of Newton L. Gingrich, assisted by O. D. Snider and Rufus Yutzi. Burial was made in the North Woolrich Cemetery.
