- E. Treitz Was School Custodian
Edwin O. Treitz, a retired custodian of Central Public School where he had served for many years, died Apr. 2 in Listowel Memorial Hospital. Mr. Treitz was 97 years of age. Born Dec. 28, 1884 in Stephen Township, he was the son of Charles and Catherine (Gaiser) Treitz. Mr. Treitz is survived by his wife, Della (nee Horne), whom he married on Jan 15, 1913 in Wallace Tp. The couple resided in Wallace Tp. before moving to Listowel in 1950. Mr. Treitz was a member of Calvary United Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth of Goderich and Charlie of Listowel; by a sister, Mrs. Estrella Finkbeiner of Exeter; two brothers, Ernest of Sarnia and Wellington of Harriston, as well as by 6 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Treitz was predeceased by his parents and by two sisters and a grandson. Rev. Rea Grant conducted the funeral service, which was held Monday, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Robert Trench Funeral Home, Listowel. Internment is in Fairview Cemetery. The pallbearers were Fraser Lynn, Harry Bell, Harold Good, Sheldon Hammond, Bert Hastings and Bill Binning.
