  Nicholas Kartes and wife Catharine Derr arrive in New York September 4th 1826 on the ship Elizabeth with the Mathias Fehrenbach and Felix Scharbach families and the Trendels and Hohlrads. With the Kartes family are their children Maria , Mathias, John , settled in Culross Township, Bruce County, and Catharine . Son Peter Kartes is born in about 1829. __________________ Nicholas is reported to have been in Habach, Bavaria, Germany, documentation needed.
