- A-1-90 Thomas Douglass Letters of Administration, with Will annexed, to the Estate of Thomas Douglass, late of the Township of Wellesley, Yeoman, deceased, granted the Third day of March, 1856, to Sarah Douglass, widow of the said deceased, on her giving proof that her said husband died on or about the Thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty two, on her giving a Bond and Security for the due administration of such Estate herself and two securities in the persons of John Wilson and Robert Kelly, both of the Township of Wellesley, Yeomen, each in the sum of Two Hundred Pounds, the Inventory delivered being to the amount og £101/5/- The said deceased having omitted in his will to appoint Executors thereof - Which said Will is in the words following.
Last Will and Testament of Thomas Douglass of the Township of Wellesley, Yeoman, do hereby certify that the following property owned by me shall be disposed of in the manner hereafter mentioned…that Sarah Douglass, my wife, do and will own the land held by me, being the east half of the Lot No. Eleven in the 4th concession of the said Township of Wellesley, and that she shall have the benefit of the said land during her natural life, either to let it for rent or to let it on shairs[sic] or to keep it in her own hand to work it to the best advantage but that she shall not have it in her power to sell it, but if she do get married to another man after my demise she shall get only what clothing she owns or brought with her and that at her death the rest of the remaining property with the land be sold and the whole of the money arising from the sale be divided equally amongst the remaining family also I do leave to my daughters Sarah and Annabella Todd and Jannet Douglass that each of them have a bed and cloathing at their marriage and of they be not married the bed and cloathing belong to them and that each of them have a cow when they are married but at my wife's death they shall have each of them that is not married their cow above their share also I do will if I am spared to make a sale of the stock and that the money arising from the sale be put into proper hands and that the instres [interest]arising from it is at my wife's pleasure to do with it as she think proper.
