  RESPECTED RESIDENT DIED Henry D. Schmidt Passed Away on Monday in bis 64th Year Death came very suddenly to Mr. Henry D. Schmidt, respected resident of Waterloo. He attended church twice on Sunday and appeared to be in his usual health. About 4 o'clock Monday am., he complained of feeling unwell, and passed away about an hour later, heart failure being cause of death. The late Mr. Schmidt was born in North Easthope Aug 29th, 1843, being 64 years, 4 months and 22 days of age. He was for many years resident of Waterloo, having been employed for a period of thirty-one years by Mr. Geo. Moore and had charge of Mr. Moore's farm. In 1866 he was married to Catharine Ratz, two children being born to them, a son Jacob, and a daughter Permilia. His wife died Dec. 20, 1891, and he was again married in 1900 to Mrs. Catharine Vollmar, Berlin, who survives him. The following brothers and sisters of deceased also survive Jacob, Berlin, Georgina, Preston; Louis of near Listowel, Margaret (Mrs. Hy. Wismer), Baden. Deceased was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran church and was a also a member of the Trustee Board. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 8 o'clock from his late residence to St. John's Lutheran church for this to Mount Hope cemetery. The Chronicle Telegraph 23 Jan 1908, p. 5
