- Shantz, Ada - on Monday, May 12, 1997 at People Care Centre, Tavistock, Ada Shantz, who was formerly of Baden.
She was born in Wilmot Township 87 years ago, a daughter of the late Orphen and Sarah (Bechtel) Wismer. Ada was a member of the Shantz Mennonite Church, RR 2 Baden where she had been a member of the WMSC. She was a member of the Baden Senior Citizens and a member of the Haysville Sunshine Club.
Beloved wife of Lorne Shantz who predeceased her August 7, 1991. Loving mother of Ralph and his wife Dorothy Shantz of RR 2 Baden, Marilyn and her husband Laurence Martin of Kitchener, Clare and his wife Marlene Shantz of St. Agatha, Harold and his wife Judy Shantz of Milverton, Doreen and her husband Edward Stofega of Windsor. Also remembered by 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Elmina Wismer of New Hamburg. Ada was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters, Byron, Milton, Elmer, Herbert, Jeremiah, Florence Snyder and Alice Shantz.
Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Thursday, May 15, 1997 at noon transfer will be made to Shantz Mennonite Church for the service at 2: 30 p.m., with Pastor Jim Loepp Thiessen officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Shantz Mennonite Church (Building Fund) or the Mennonite Central Committee (Manitoba Flood Relief).
