  After a long illness our respected fellow-citizen Adam B. Schaefer was released from earthly life on Wednesday of last week. The deceased came to this country from Germany over fifty years ago and had lived as a resident of of St. Jacobs for fifty years. Until a short time before the death of his wife, three years ago, he was actively engaged in the carpentering and building trade. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran congregation here and held at different times the offices of deacon, S. S. teacher, etc. In politics he was a staunch Liberal. He leaves behind three sons and three daughters. The funeral was held on Friday when a large number of relatives and friends paid a last tribute of respect to the deceased by their presence. Rev. Mr. Liuke officiated. The bereaved children have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends. A few later particulars regarding the late A. B. Schaefer: He was born Feb. 17, 1831 in Hessen-Darmstadt Germany, came to this country in 1852, came to Canada and took up his trade with his brother-in-law at Bridgeport. He was married in 1854 to Magdalena Winkler and settled in St. Jacobs in 1855. About three years ago he suffered a paralytic stroke and since that he had several more which gradually rendered him helpless. The funeral text was 1's. 121 v. 1 and 2.
