- MARTIN, Leah (Mrs. Elton F.) - Peacefully, went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Chateau Gardens, Elmira. Leah (Snyder) Martin, in her 91st year, of Elmira. Dear wife of the late Elton F. Martin (2006). Loving mother of Elvin and Sandra Martin of Dundalk, Sallie Gingrich of Waterloo and the late Oscar Gingrich, Bert and Carol Martin of Elmira, Anna and John Metzger of Napanee, Ruth and Murray Martin of Manigatogan, Manitoba, Joyce and Vern Gingrich of Kitchener, Jan Jacob of Nakina and the late Isaiah Jacob, Elly and Randall Moyers of Broadway, Virginia, Paul and Pat Martin of Elmira, Rick and Leona Martin of Atwood and Kathy Martin of Stratford. Leah will be missed by her 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Sister of Elvina and Newton Bauman of RR 2, Drayton and sister-in-law of Verna Snyder of RR 2, Drayton and Lorene Snyder of RR 4, Elmira. Predeceased by her parents, Ira and Hannah (Gingrich) Snyder; two grandsons, Bradley and Jeremy; one great-grandson, Braeden and two brothers, Sylvester and Freeman Snyder and one sister, Salome Snyder. Leah was a charter member of Hawkesville Mennonite Church. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Saturday, August 30, 2008. transfer will be made to Hawkesville Mennonite Church for a memorial service to celebrate the life and faith of Leah at 2 p.m. with Pastor Perry Bartel officiating. The casket will remain open in the church until 1: 30 p.m. Interment in Hawkesville Cemetery. In her memory, donations to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or Chateau Gardens Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. The family would like to thank the staff of Chateau Gardens for the care and compassion shown to Leah.
