Notes |
- STEELE, JAMES
A former resident of Puslinch, peacefully, at the home of his son, Mitchell Steele, at Maple Creek (or Sceptre - differing reports), SK, on Thursday, January 21st 1915. Word was received by his son, Frank Steele of Metcalfe St. in Galt. Mr. Steele was well known in Galt and vicinity. He and his wife went west some time ago on a visit to their two sons, intending to return last fall but were unable to return owing to Mr. Steele's ill health. Mr. Steele was one of the most successful farmers of Puslinch Township and was widely known. He was a life-long Liberal and an old member of Knox Church in Galt. He had been a subscriber to the Galt Weekly Reporter for a great many years and was an intimate friend of the Jaffray brothers. His widow, four sons and one daughter survive him: James on the homestead at Aberfoyle; William and Mitchell of Sceptre, SK; Mrs. Thomas Paddock of Puslinch and Frank of Galt. The funeral takes place on January 23rd at Sceptre.
