Notes |
- John Rudell, "son of Conrad and Margaret (Fischer) Rudell, was born in Kuhr Hessen, Germany, April 28th, 1833. In 1847 he, in company with his parents, emigrated to America and landed at Quebec, Canada, where they remained one year. In 1848 they continued their journey westward and came as far as Preston, Waterloo County, Ontario, where they finally settled. Mr Rudell, after arriving at the age of maturity, commenced to take building contracts for himself. In a few years he proved himself to be one of the most successful builders and contractors of the county. On October 5th, 1856, he was married to Hannah, youngest daughter of Deacon Abraham C. and Elizabeth (Strohm) Clemens. She was born near Hespeler, Ontario, August 30th, 1836. After their marriage they resided in Preston for some time, then they moved on a farm in Puslinch Township, Wellington County, near Holm's mills. Here they resided until 1891 when they moved to Berlin where they still reside, spending the evening of their days in comfort and ease. To them was born a family of ten children"
