- RICHARD AMY, FORMERLY OF GRENFELL, DIES
Pioneer of Pheasant Forks District Passes Away at Drayton, Ontario
(Special to The Leader)
GRENFELL, April 19. William Amy received word of the death of his father, Richard Amy, April 16, at Drayton, Ontario. Mr. Amy was in his 72nd year. He came from Ontario to Pheasant Forks in 1882. About 80 years ago he moved to the farm four miles south of Grenfell, where he remained until he left about five years ago to make his home with his son and daughter in Drayton, Ont. Mrs. Amy died about 20 years ago. Three sons, William Thomas. and Ira, live in Grenfell district and one daughter, Mrs. T. Ward, lives in Regina.
Mr. Amy was for many years a Methodist local preacher, giving freely of his services until prevented by old age and failing eyesight. The choir of the United Church, Grenfell, under the leadership of E. T. Claxton, rendered the sacred cantata. "From Olivet to Calvary;" to a large congregation Easter Sunday night. The sololists were E. T. Claxton, Miss Ethel Loveridge and Mr. and Mrs. W. Royston. At the morning service 22 young people joined the church.
Charles and Stanley Welsh have just returned from Victoria, B.C., where they spent the winter with their father, Wm. Welsh.
