  SHANTZ, James Edward (Jim) Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, at the age of 69. Beloved husband and soulmate of Lisa Haid. Loving father of Ryan Shantz and Erin Shantz (Mike Bender). Dear brother of David Shantz of Hamilton, and Cheryl Shantz (Jack Schumaker) of New Zealand. Step- brother to Laurie Daniels and Allan (Jean) Daniels. Uncle of Paul Shantz. Remembered by Lisa's family, Joan and Bill Haid, Dennis, Paul (Marilyn), Angela Sinclair (Jim), and Alan (Claudine) and their families. Pre-deceased by his parents, Lester and Gracienne Shantz, his stepmother, Alberta Daniels. Jim was a retired math teacher at Forest Heights High School. He was a sports enthusiast, referee and umpire for many local games, and he also loved to travel. James's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 10: 15 a.m. Jim's funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10: 30 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
