  • Notes
    • Death of a Former Resident - Word was received here last week by his sister, Mrs. Alex. Fraser, of the death of James C. Mills of Yerrington, Nevada. Mr. Mills was born on lot 81, concession 9, North Dumfries, in the year 1889 [sic], and spent thirty-two years of his life in this neighborhood. Thirty-nine years ago he went to Nevada and during that time made two visits to the place of his birth. After a few years residence in that State, and finding the conditions to his liking, he took up a tract of land and commenced stock raising in a small way. In a few years his venture proving successful, he added thorough bred horses to his ranch. Being a man of practical ideas and abilities he was looking up to as an authority on stock raising. He was highly respected in the neighborhood and in his business relations it is said to him that he would rather give away a genuine dollar than utter a counterfeit sentiment. Four years ago he retired from active life and moved to town, where he died on the second of February of heart failure. Mrs. Fraser is the nearest relative surviving. John S., Alexander and A.J. Reid of this village are first cousins of deceased.
