Notes |
- Death of a Native of Ayr - The following clipping from a Wisconsin paper has been handed to us for publication in The News. Many of the older residents of Ayr and vicinity will remember the late Mr. Haddow, he having lived for many years on the farm situated on the Galt road, about a mile east of the village, and now occupied by Mr. Rutherford. Following a paralytic stroke last Thursday, James Haddow died, Saturday, at the home of his son, John Haddow of River Falls. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at the home, Rev. Elmer Willis Serl of the Congregational Church conducting the services. The remains were brought to Hudson on the afternoon train and laid to rest in Willow River cemetery. Deceased was born April 22, 1841, at Ayr, Ontario and came to the town of Kinnickinnie in 1868 and later moved to the town of Troy, living for forty years on his farm in the "Hogback" district. Mr. and Mrs. Haddow resided for ten years in Hudson and for the past three years have lived n River Falls. Their marriage occurred in 1870. Mr. Haddow leaves four brothers and one sister - Mrs. Agnes Brown of Cranbrook, Ont., Robert of Gilby, B.D., William of Hudson, David of River Falls and Mungo, of Denver, Col. Children living are John of River Falls, Albert of Scobey, Mont., and Mrs. James Lundy of Troy.
