    • Elderly Resident Dies at Petersburg
      August Knipfel Dies In 80th Year.

      PETERSBURG. August Knipfel passed away at his residence at Petersburg Wednesday night after a lingering illness. He was in his 80th year, and was born on February 1, 1862 in Petersburg.

      On July 22, 1883, deceased was married to Miss Matilda Becker. He was the son of Adam Knipfel and his wife Marie Grimm. Mrs. Knipfel predeceased him in October 25, 1937. Two sons and one daughter also predeceased him. He leaves four sons, Harry, William and Charles of Petersburg, and John at Toronto; one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Seip also of Petersburg, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

      Mr. Knipfel was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg, and was an elder of the church for over thirty years. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon with a private service at the residence at 2 o'clock and a public service at the Lutheran Church in Petersburg at 2.30. Interment will take place in Petersburg cemetery. Rev. C. A. Kraemer will be in charge.
