      Demise of John Eliott

Was Well and Favorably Known Throughout the Section

Last week the hand of Death was busy in our midst. On Wednesday afternoon John Elliott, Colquhoun street, passed to his reward, after a long illness, which confined him to his home for several years. Born in North Dumfries upwards of 61 years ago, he spent the prime of his life farming in Blenheim, and was also widely known in the community as a thresher. He never married, and shortly after the death of his father, about 15 years ago, he moved to Ayr, and if there is any one tribute of honor we would wish to pay to our departed friend it was his fidelity and devotion to his parents and sister in the home life - the mother predeceasing him by three months. In politics he was a Liberal and in religion a Presbyterian - a member of Knox United church. The members of the family who survive are: David Elliott, Vancouver; Henry Elliott, Greenfield; Mrs. Walter Hall, Ayr; Mrs. Wm. Bruce, Ayr, and Mrs. Robert Taylor, Cleveland.

Interment took place in the Ayr cemetery on Saturday, Rev. Mr. Brown conducting the service. the pallbearers were Messrs. John L. Black, Wm. Patterson, Thos. Hall, Jas. Lillico, And. G. and And. E. Laurie.

Among the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. W. J. Elliott, Dunnville, and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hall, Paris.
