________________________
George, W. Muirhead died at his residence in the city of Chicago, Ill., at 7 o'clock; a.m., August 1st, of congestion of the brain. It is thought by his friends that the disease was occasioned by a partial sun stroke, which the deceased received about a week prior to his death. He remained unconscious, with the exception, of a few minutes, during the whole of his sickness, which continued but two days. The deceased was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Lacon, of the rank of Past Grand. From the time he was taken sick every care and attention was bestowed upon him by the fraternity at Chicago, by whom his remains were sent to Lacon, and buried by Lacon Lodge, with all the honors of the order. Mr. Muirhead was born at Guelph, Ontario, Sept. 23rd; 1840. He came to Lacon in 1864, and has lived here with the exception of a few months, from that time up to June 20th, 1877, when he moved with his family to Chicago. On the 19th of December, 1864, Mr. Muirhead was married to Miss Colona Rogers, daughter of the late Dr. R.B. Rogers, of Lacon. The deceased was a man of gentlemanly deportment and equable disposition, and by his death his wife loses a kind and affectionate husband, his children a loving and indulgent father, the order to which he belonged worthy member, and the community in which he lived a valuable citizen.
