  Death Of Miss Mary Betts. The death occurred early on Thursday afternoon of Miss Mary Betts, "Calderwood," eldest daughter of the late Dr. H. A. Betts. For several months past Miss Betts suffered from the effects of a serious illness, but lately had improved in health. The heat was very severe upon her, and yesterday while her nurse was at lunch, she went to the bathroom to take a cold bath. Evidently, Miss Betts lost consciousness while in the bath. She was discovered by the nurse about one o'clock, but all efforts to resuscitate her were of no avail, as life was extinct. The family have the sympathy of many friends in their hour of sorrow. The late Miss Betts came from England with her father and other members of the family about 1871, and has resided here ever since. Her father died about five years after coming to Kingston, and her mother two years ago last March. Deceased was a sister of Mrs. J. B. Walkem, of this city, and of Mrs. (Rev.) O. G. Dobbs, Brockville. The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon, and will be private.
