Heimbecher & Jung - Manufacturers of Furniture, Builders' Material and Lumber Dealers
This firm has one of the busiest places in Elmira. They manufacture furniture, such as chair and sofa frames, in large quantities and provide contractors and builders with anything they require in woodwork and lumber. Both are practical men of experience. Mr. Heimbecher has been in Elmira over a quarter century, and has been closely connected with this business during all of this time. Mr. Jung has also been in this business since he is able to work. They are constantly employing many hands and have, in this way, done much for the village.

"Mr. C. [Caspar] Heimbecher of Elmira, has sold his manufacturing business to Messrs. Snyder Brothers of Waterloo. … It will be interesting to recall that he and the late Mr. Jung purchased this factory from the late Mr. Charles Ruppel 27 years ago. … Mr. Jung passed away about one and a half years ago. The business which traded under the firm name of Heimbecher & Jung, continued to operate as such until October of 1919, when Mr. Heimbecher purchased his late partner's interest from his estate. It has since been carried on as 'C. Heimbecher.' … As is well-known this firm has specialized in the manufacture of Upholsterers' Furniture. Their biggest customer was Snyder Brothers of Waterloo and next to it G. Hachborn & Co."

Casper Heimbecher
On Tuesday morning, February 14, a highly respected resident and one who has long been a citizen of Elmira, in the person of Casper Heimbecher, passed away after an illness of about two weeks.
The late Mr. Heimbecher, who was in his 80th year, was born in the Township of Wellesley in 1853 and was a carpenter by trade. He came to Elmira many years ago and entered the employ of the late Carl Ruppel in the furniture factory. He later. formed a company, acquiring the Ruppel plant, which at that time manufactured doors, sash and frames. After some years Mr. Heimbecher entered into partnership with the late George Jung, taking over this plant and business. On the death of Mr. Jung, Mr. Heimbecher purchased the Jung interest in the business and continued it until the year 1921 when he disposed of it to Snider's Limited. Waterlon, continuing in their employ until about three months ago. The late Mr. Heimbecher was actively connected with this factory for over 56 years.
In 1877 he was united in marriage to Anna Elizabeth Reh and they had only one child, Harry, who passed away about one year ago. Mrs. Heimbecher predeceased her husband four years ago.
The late Mr. Heimbecher, who was noted for his honesty and good and clean living, contributed largely in past years to the industrial activity of the town. Although he was unassuming in manner, yet at all times he fook an active interest in community affairs and did everything he could to advance the interests of the town and the well-being of its citizens. His integrity was never questioned and he was always held in the highest esteem.
The late Mr. Heimbecher was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, being an Elder for some years and he took an active part in all church work. He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ida Heimbecher.
The funeral will take place on Friday, Feb. 17, at two o'clock p.m. from his late home on Danke Street, to St. Paul's Lutheran church for service, af ter which interment will take place in the Elmira Cemetery.
