Notes |
- DIED: In Elmira, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. John S. Ruppel, Mrs. Margaret Allemang, relict of Mr. Stephan Allemang, Sr., at the age of 72 years and 25 days. Deceased had lived in Elmira with her family of whom 5 sons and 2 daughters survive her, many years, and was highly respected by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She was one of those hardy, kind hearted motherly women to whose energy diligence and precept. the present generation owes so much. In her early years she lived in the neighborhood of Heidelberg, where she was married to Mr. Stephan Allemang, who died exactly live years before her. They lived a number of years near her old home, whence they removed to Elmira, settling on a farm on which they later lived retired. Her funeral took place last Monday afternoon and was attended by numerous relatives and acquaintances, many of whom attended the funeral services at St. Paula Lutheran church, where Rev. Graupner preached an appropriate sermon on the words with which Job consoled himself in his afflictions:\emdash "I know that my Redeemer Liveth."
