  WILKIE, Edward J. Passed away, peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, June 21, 1999, at the age of 74 years. Loving husband of Helen (Wendell) Wilkie for 53 years. Beloved father of Allan Wilkie and his wife Suzan of Kitchener, Brian Wilkie and his wife Betty of Elora, Wayne Wilkie and his wife Wendy of Palmerston and Gary Wilkie of Terrace, B.C. Proud grandfather of Aaron of Edmonton, Amanda of Palmerston and Andrew, Kayla and Robbie of Kitimat, B.C. Dear brother of Tena Gies and her husband Maynard of Elmira and brother-in-law of Erla Wilkie of Kitchener and Ann Zacharias of Kitchener. Predeceased by his parents, Simon and Lucinda (nee Westfall) Wilkie and by his brothers, Ephriam, Abram, Leander, Albert ("Punch"), Carl and Bill and by one sister, Ruth Gole. Ed was wounded in Holland in 1944 and was a triple amputee and was a charter member of the Waterloo Wellington War Amps Association. He was employed at Uniroyal before and after his war service with the Essex Scottish Regiment. Mr. Wilkie's family will receive friends and relatives at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, June 24, 1999 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Don Stroh officiating. Interment at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Conestogo. The Record Newspaper 22 Jun 1999 pg B4
