Notes |
- Mrs. Casper Zeigler
There passed away at her home on William Street, Elmira, on Wednesday afternoon, Elizabeth Klein, widow of the late Casper Zeigler. Mrs. Zeigler was born in Ellice township, Perth county, on December 10th, 1845, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Klein. In November 8th, 1870, she was married to this late Casper Zeigler. After living in Salem for about seventeen years, the family came to Elmira, where the deceased spent nearly 50 years of her long life. Her husband died in June, 1928, and two sons, an one daughter also predeceased her. Three daughters, namely, Mrs. H. Battenberg of Elmira, Mrs. Carl Bruer of Ottawa and Miss Elizabeth Zeigler at home, survive here, as well as twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Zeigler had been a life-long member of the Lutheran church and a regular attendant at St. Paul's, while she was able to go out. She had also been a faithful member of St. Paul's Ladies' Aid. Though totally blind for about four years, she was not seriously ill until the last two weeks, when she became gradually weaker and at last slept peacefully away.
The funeral will be held next Saturday afternoon. After a short service at the home at 2 o'clock, the remains will be taken to St. Paul's Church for service (which will be in the English language), followed by interment in the Elmira cemetery.
