• Notes

  Mrs. Wm. Shelby (Mary Ann Ratz) whose illness of typhoid fever we reported in our last issue, died on Saturday. The remains were brought to Elmira on Monday afternoon, when the funeral was held from the home of her mother, Mrs. John Ratz, sr., to Elmira Union Cemetery, where they were laid to rest in the family burial plot. A service was held in the Evangelical church, when Rev. W. J. Zimmerman preached an English sermon to a large audience. The many friends of the Ratz family heartily sympathise with the bereaved ones. Deceased leaves a sorrowing husband and four small children, her aged mother, five brothers and two sisters to mourn her untimely death. Elmira Advertiser, August 8, 1906
