Notes |
- CLAYTON ZILLIAX - the first victim of Spanish influenza in Elmira was Mr. Clayton Zilliax, son of the late Henry Zilliax, who had of late been living in Kitchener, where he was employed as bookkeeper for the firm of Randall & Roos.
When Mr. Zilliax felt the disease approaching he was alone in his home, his wife, who was in a delicate state of health, being at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wissler, Elora. After fighting the disease for a few days, he realized that he needed medical attention and care. Consequently he came to his mother's residence here on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 12th, already showing very serious symptoms. In a few days his case developed into pneumonia. In spite of all that could be done for him, he passed away on Monday. He had reached the age of 27 years. Deceased leaves, besides his widow and three-weeks-old daughter, his mother, four brothers and two sisters, who have the sympathy of a wide circle of relatives and friends in their sad bereavement.
