• Notes

  Henry Haddington Date was born 24 Dec 1818 in Devonshire, England. Educated at the Sidcote Grammar School and came to Canada in 1834 settling at Burlington become coming to Galt. he was a manufacturer establishing the Galt Edge Tool Co. In 1851 aces from the factory won medals at the World's Fair in London England. He was Captain of the Galt Rifle Company in 1857, he left Galt about 1863 after a fire of his factory. He died in Montreal in 1905 and is buried in the Trinity Anglican Cemetery Cambridge Mosiac, Jim Quantrell, 1998, City of Cambridge [abbreviated snippet from original text in book] ________________________ "Mr. Date informs us that he has no intention of withdrawing his establishment from Galt and will continue to carry on the business here with increased vigor."
