      ______________________

There passed away into the higher life on Monday night, one of Elmira's estimable young ladies - Miss Bella Vogt -, daughter of Mrs. George Vogt. On Thursday afternoon her remains were consigned to the grave, in the presence of a concourse of sorrowing friends. The funeral hour had been set for two o'clock. But long before the appointed time, hundreds of friends and neighbors had gone to the family residence to pay their last respects to one they esteemed in life and to express their sympathy to the bereaved family.

The body lying amid a bank of flowers appeared most life-like. It might have been a beautiful bride, asleep, which they viewed. There was genuine sorrow shown by those present, in the quiet way of those who feel deeply.

The funeral was a large one, and ceremonies at the house, the cemetery and the church were impressively fine and solemn. The Rev. A.M. Hamilton, M.A., of Gale Presbyterian Church, officiated. The hymns sung at the church had been selected by the young lady before her death. There were present relatives and friends from Toronto, Hamilton, St. Thomas, Berlin, Galt, Freeport and many other points.

Among those who attended the last sad ceremony were young and old, rich and poor and they came from far and near. The reason the unusually strong tribute of respect shown was because the deceased was one of Nature's Gentlewomen. She had written her name in kindness on the hearts of those she came in contact with daily and so "erected a monument which time cannot destroy." Her life will become a sweet memory. Going Home, she will find the Gates Ajar - Berlin News-Record.

The funeral of Miss Bella Vogt was held last Thursday afternoon, and was very largely attended.
