  METZGER, Abram - Peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2007, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Abram Metzger in his 96th year, of Elmira formerly of Wellesley Township. Beloved husband of the late Magdalena (Wideman) Metzger (1992). Dear father of John and Florence of RR 1, Wellesley, Clayton and Alice of RR 4, Elmira, Marie and Sam Gerber of RR 1, Fort Frances. Lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Brother of Lydian Kappes of St. Jacobs. Predeceased by his parents, John and Susannah (Hoffman) Metzger, ten brothers, one sister and one daughter in infancy. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Saturday, July 14, 2007 transfer will be made to Countryside Mennonite Fellowship, Hawkesville for funeral service at 2 p.m. followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery. In his memory, donations to Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Chateau Gardens Assisted Living and Freeport Health Centre for the care and compassion shown to our father.
