- METZGER, Alvin B. Died peacefully at home, RR 1, Wallenstein on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Mary (Shantz) Metzger (2011). Dear father of Erma and James Martin, Laurene and Amon Weber, both of RR 1, Wallenstein, Martha Wideman of RR 3, Wallenstein, Miriam and Alvin Wideman of RR 4, Listowel, Abner and Vera Metzger, and Ruth and Cleon Wideman, both of RR 1, Wallenstein. Also survived by 31 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Brother of Amos and Esther Metzger of Linwood, brother-in-law of Hettie (Mrs. Sidney) Metzger of Wallenstein, and Louisa (Mrs. Elam) Metzger of Floradale. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Magdalena (Buehler) Metzger, son David Metzger (1996), son-in-law Daniel Wideman (2016), eight brothers, one in infancy, and two sisters, one in infancy. Relatives and friends may call at the home of Amon and Laurene Weber, 6231 Buehler Line, RR 1, Wallenstein on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m., and on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 1-5 p.m. A family service will be held at the home of Amon Weber on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 9 a.m., then to Weaverland Mennonite Meeting House for burial and public service. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
