    • Mrs. Elizabeth Christman

      After a lingering illness of several years duration, which was considerably aggravated by the effects of a fall, death removed Mrs. Elizabeth Christman, who was one of the first settlers in Elmira. Deceased was born in Germany, came to Canada about 62 years ago, was married to Anton Werle, with whom she had several children. Later she became the second wife of the late Henry Christman, with whom she lived on a farm just south of Elmira, and later in the village, until the death of her husband which occurred in 1890. Since then she continued to live in Elmira with her son Adolf, who together with his two half-brothers, Leopold and Henry Christman, survive her.

      The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon, attended by many relatives and acquaintances, who paid their last respects to the memory of the deceased and, attended the service conducted by Rev. Strempfer in St. James Lutheran Church, of which she had been a member for many years.
