Mr. Cockwell was born on the 16th concession, Elma Township and moved with his parents in 1902 to Donegal. Kelly and Kim Cockwell, granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Cockwell were at the door and were in charge of the register. Assisting the bride and groom of 50 years ago in receiving the guests were their son Jim and daughter-in-law, Connie Cockwell, their daughter, Helen and son-in-law, Norman Gallop. Dancing to the music of the Footnotes, Staffa, was enjoyed during the evening and lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Cockwell were married on January 11, 1929 at the United Church parsonage, Milverton by the late Rev. F.J. Fydell. Following their marriage they took up farming on the Donegal sideroad, Elma Township, where they resided until 1962 when they moved to Atwood. They are members of the Atwood United Church and the Atwood Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Cockwell is a member of the afternoon unit of the UCW of Atwood United Church and a member of the Maple Leaf Women's Institute. Her hobbies are tatting and baking.
