Notes |
- Moyer, Kathleen Anna (nee Klein):
Passed away peacefully at home at Trinity Village surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 9th, 2019 at age 94. Wife and partner in life and love of the late Elmer John Moyer. Loving mother of Donna Lotz, Marlene and Bill Cutler, Jean and Jim Costelec, all of Kitchener, daughter-in-law Carol Moyer of Paris, Shirley and Joe Baumgartner of Cambridge, Susan and Paul Cameron of Oakville, and Karen and Dave McKelvey of Brantford. Much loved grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Tom and Charlene Schell of Guelph. Predeceased by parents Charles and Theresa Klein, stepfather Louis Schell, son James Moyer, daughter Catherine Berg, sister Dorothy Schnarr and four sons-in-law.
Kathleen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Married to Elmer at 18, she soon had a house full of children to nurture, teach, feed and clothe. Raising eight children was no small feat. Her hands were never idle, whether at work or leisure. She loved to bake, crochet and sew beautiful quilts, and always had room at her table for guests. She was a handy woman, both independently and alongside Elmer, fixing cars and doing household repairs. Any request for help, whether big or small, was never turned down. Her legacy is not only the beautiful handmade items she left behind, but the fine example she set for us.
Kathleen's retirement years with Elmer were particularly happy, with annual trips to Florida. She soldiered on after his death in 2000, missing him terribly but filling her days with family, friends, hobbies, and a weekly Scrabble game with her daughters.
Kathleen's recent struggle, and the fortitude with which she endured it, are an inspiration to those who loved and cared for her. Our mother's courage, strength and selflessness were always apparent, but the journey we shared these past months brought those traits into even sharper focus.
Goodbye Mom, we will embrace you in our loving arms forever.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday, June 14th, 2019 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Funeral Liturgy will be held there in the Chapel on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at 1:30 pm. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment will take place at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener. Donations to the University of Guelph - Catherine and Brian Berg Memorial Bursary, National Catholic Broadcasting Council, or the Canadian Cancer Society (for melanoma research) would be appreciated by the family.
