    • Another old resident of Elmira passed away early on Monday morning in the person of Philippena Braun, beloved wife of Mr. Michael B. Oswald, The deceased was born in Woolwich in 1839. In December 1856 she was married to Mr. Oswald and they shared the joys and sorrows of life for nearly sixty! years. To them were born 12 children. 6 died young and one after marriage. The following remain to mourn with their father in their hour bereavement: Mary (Mrs. A. Lorch), Eva (Mrs. Henry Ott, of Wallace), Caroline (Mrs. Henry Beckner), Jacob and Philippena who is still at home. There are also 18 grandchildren greatgrandchildren, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Philip Oswald, Elmira, and Mrs. Henry Otterbein, Michigan, and one brother, Jacob Braun, Vancouver. Mrs. Oswald had suffered long from that dread disease, cancer, having been ill in bed the last 14 weeks. Death came as a relief from all sickness and pain. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
