      Was Resident of Elmira for Thirty-Two Years --- Formerly of Woolwich

      IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL

      Many From a Distance Came to Pay Last Respects

      The passing of Mrs. Conrad Hahn, on Friday last, removes one of the old and esteemed citizens of Elmira, Mrs. Hahn's death occurring after a trying illness of two years, during which endeavers were vainly made to save her life by operations.

      Born in Woolwich township sixty-six years ago, she was well-known in that locality as Lizetha Umbach, being a resident of the township until her marriage in 1878 to Mr. Hahn. Subsequently, Mr. and Mrs. Hahn settled in Elmira, where they have resided for the last thirty-two years. Of a deep religious faith, Mrs. Hahn was a member of the Benton street Baptist Church, Kitchener, which she attended with regularity so long as her health permitted.

      The funeral was held on Monday afternoon from her late residence to the Elmira Union cemetery. Rev. Mr. Jewett, in the absence of Rev. Mr. Schade, of Benton Street Church, Kitchener, conducting the service at the house, while Rev. Mr. Bean sang a beautiful solo and conducted the services at the grave. The pallbearers were: Simon Moyer, Israel Groff, Robt. Byers, John Klinck, Geo. Hahn, and J. H. Ruppel.

Class, Miss L. Hahn, Mr. and Mrs. Pegugnat, Mrs. Ed. Hahn; Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Umbach, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. H. Umbach, Waterloo; Mr. C. Weber, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. S. Umbach, Woolwich; Mrs. D. F. McTavish, Paris, Mr. D. F. Hambly, Drayton; Mr. J. R. Hambly, Drayton; Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Phillips, Chatham; Mrs. Agnes Rebeski, New Hamburg; Mr. Alex. Fraser, New Hamburg; Mrs. Rev. Kampter, New Hamburg; Mr. J. Hahn, Hanover; Mrs. A. Gies, St. Jacobs; Mr. J. Hahn, St. Jacobs; Mr. and Mrs. Dan. Schwietzer, Heidelburg.

      Besides her husband, three daughters and one son are left, as follows: Mrs. Oliver Hambly of Elmira, Mrs. J. W. Borkwood of Elmira, Mrs. C. M. Kuntze of Baden, and Soloman of Brooklyn, N. Y. There are also four brothers, Philip, Soloman, John and Israel Umbach, all living in the Canadian West, and one sister, Mrs. John H. Schaefer of Elmira.
