- In 1888 Rev. Solomon Eix of Wallace Township, Perth Co., Ontario dedicated the new church organ at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Floradale. The cost of the organ was $185.

Rev. S. B. Eix, Minister of Lutheran Church in Canada and United States Serves Church for 50 Years
Rev. S. B. Eix, a minister of the Lutheran Church both in Canada and United States for many years, died on Sunday after a very short illness. Deceased was 75 years of age. He was born on April 20, 1864, the son of Henry Eix, Sr., and Catherine Betzler.
At the age of 14, he entered Concordia College, Fort Wayne, Ind., where he studied for six years, graduating from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1888. His first pastorate was at Kurtzville where he served for three years. The next five years he preached at Stratford after which he was called to Fisherville where he remained for 20 years. Later he was moved to Mitchell where he preached for 12 years. In 1929 the Basswood Hill, Filmore, N. Y. congregation called him as pastor. He served there until he retired from the ministry in 1938.
On January 7, 1889, he was married to Martha M. Ruppel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ruppel Sr., Elmira, who passed away on January 7, 1906. Later he married Miss Louise Reibs of North East, Penn., who predeceased him on March 7, 1938.
He leaves to mourn three sisters, Mrs. John K. Ritter, Mrs. Louis Beisel, and Mrs. Amos Eby, all of Elmira, and two brothers, Charles B. Eix of Detroit, and Henry B. Eix of Elmira.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon (Thursday) from the residence of Mrs. John K. Ritter, 12 King Street, at two o'clock, to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for service. Burial will be made in Elmira Union Cemetery.
