Notes |
- John Miller was born February 16, 1836, in West Ontario, New Hamburg Canada, and died December 17, 1918, at his home in Pulaski, Iowa. He came to Iowa in 1854 and on February 16, 1865 he was united in marriage with Catherine Wenger. They commenced life together, locating on a farm three miles west of Pulaski, Ia.
A few years ago they moved to the town of Pulaski and were residing there at the time of his demise.
Davis county has always been his home, and he will be greatly missed there by all and especially so by the members of the church to which he had espounded the gospel of the Lord and Savior.
Twelve children were born to this union, seven girls and five boys. Two girls and two boys having passed away in infancy and one girl, Anna, died at the age of twenty-nine years, whle four girls and three boys are left to mourn the loss of a kind father and to care for a feeble mother.
He united with the Apostolic Church of Christ in young manhood and always remained a faithful and conscientious member to the end. His was a life worthy of imitation for he tried to live before God and man as we are all taught we should from the Holy Word, and then he was ready to stand before the judgement seat of God and hear that welcome applaud "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many." The funeral was conducted by Rev. Grimn, assisted by Rev. Ryman. Thus another good man has gone to his reward.
