  After a long illness of a peculiarly distressing nature, there passed away last Saturday evening, Mrs. Henry G. Ruppel. Deceased was born in the German Free City of Frankfort-on-the-Main on May 29th 1865. She came to Canada in 1883 and was married to her now sorrowing husband in 1884. Mr. and Mrs. Ruppel have lived in Elmira all the time of their married life. To them were born three sons and one daughter, the daughter having died in childhood. The sons are: Paul, in Galt, married, William in Toronto, married, and Gustave at home, unmarried. Deceased is also survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Birkenmaier, of Buffalo, and two sisters, Mrs. Riener, of Buffalo, and Mrs. Dr. Bradley, of Wyoming, N.Y. Mrs. Ruppel had for years been a very active member of St. Paul's Ladies' Aid, and for several years also a vaulend member of the Board of Directors of the Elmira Horticultural Society. About four years ago a peculiar nervous trouble set in, which gradually increased in severity until death released her of all ills and pains on the 50th anniversary of her birthday. The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. R. Eifert, sr., of Tavistock, preached in German, and the Pastor of St. Pauls church in English.
