Notes |
- Andrew Hagey, "the original ancestor of this popular family was a native of southern Switzerland. Here, upon being molested too much by the state parties, he, in company with others, went to Saxony Germany, where they were promised protection and granted the freedom to worship God according to their views of the teaching of the Bible. Here the old ancestor, Andrew Hagey, died with the blessed hopes of going to the heavenly mansions to rejoice with such who praise the Lamb of God. His family consisted of three children, namely: Daniel, Catharine and Jacob. Of Daniel we know nothing except that he remained in Saxony where he died. Catharine was married to a Meier and had a numerous family. Some of her descendants are scattered through the Southern and Western states. Of Jacob we have more information. He was born in or near Neustadt, Saxony, Germany."
