    • An early murder:

      The murder of Titus Schlachter, only the third in Waterloo County history, happened November 1862. Pat Kauk has translated the long account of the murder from the BERLINER JOURNAL. Those mentioned in the story are the murderer, his wife Margaretha (formerly Rueh), Joseph Deiniger, Joseph Scheuermann, Georg Ament, Christian B. Schneider, John Hart, Michael Rueh, Leopold Schmitt.
