OLD GLADWIN RESIDENT WRITES OWN OBITUARY BEFORE DEATH

Some years before his death, William F. Bollert, who succumbed here on Thanksgiving day to along illness, wrote his own obituary. It is a plain, unadorned account of the long, useful life of a man who for 35 years was a hard-working, well-liked and conscientous citizen of Gladwin county.

William F. Bollert was born in Williamsburg, Waterloo county, Ont., on July 25, 1860. At the age of two years, he with his parents, removed to Wartburg, Perth county, Ont., remaining there until about 14 years of age. At that time his mother died and then his father removed his family to East Zora, Oxford county, Ont., where they resided until he was 24 years old.

On December 2, 1884, he was united in marriage to Louisa Jane Capling of Shakespeare, Ont., and moved to a farm in East Zora, remaining there for a period of seven years, and then removed to South East Hope, in Perth county, and remained there until 1898, when he, with his family, came to Sage township, Gladwin county, Michigan, and settled on a new farm of 120 acres. He spent about 13 years clearing and improving this property. In the year 1911 he sold out and moved to Gladwin, where he has resided since that time.
Mr. Bollert and his wife had the pleasure and good fortune to see all their children grow up to man and womanhood, they having raised eight children, two boys and six girls, as follows: Arthur, Martha, Erna, Mary, Florence, Cora, Winifred, and William. They also raised one adopted child, David Kirchen, who remained with them until 21 years of age.

Surviving are all his children except Mary, who died March 3,1927. He also leaved his wife, Mrs. Louisa Bollert, to whom he had been married for 49 years; a brother, Robert of Vancouver, B. C.; a sister, Mrs. C. C. Frye, of Drumbo, Canada; and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the home and from the Gladwin M. E. church, Saturday. Rev. E. F. Bailey, former Evangelical pastor here, and friend of the deceased, officiated, assisted by Rev. Leroy M. Whitney. The songs, "Will the Circle be Unbroken?' and "Under His Wings," were sung by Mrs. Sarah Rogers, Miss Virginia Clendenning. Mrs. Gladys Whitney was at the piano. Burial was in the Ridge cemetery.

Out of town guests who were here to attendthe funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bollert and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bollertof Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Frank T. Kellogg, three daughters and son, of Cheboygan, Frank Demaray, two children and Mrs. Mary Heartwell of Mt. Pleasant, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Secor of Ishpeming, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wagoner of Canton, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Soldan of Chicago, and L. V. Soldan of Lyle.
