MARKHAM, Nov. 13\emdash By the death of Dr. Russell Carter Tefft, in the General Hospital, Toronto, whither he had been removed from the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. G. Penman, 28 Jameson ave. Markham township loses one of its best. known and most highly respected residents. Dr. Tern, who was born in Troy, N. Y., 68-years ago, came to Canada when a young man and settled in Markham township, where for many years he was prominent as a veterinary surgeon. He was a leading character in the public life of the township, both as reeve and councillor, and was on the Board of Directors of the East York and Markham Agricultural Society, Dr. Tefft was a member of the A. O. U. W., Presbyterian and a Conservative. His wife one son. Clarence, and four daughters, Mrs. A. G. Penman,, Mrs. George Glover and Mrs. Albert Gower of Toronto, and Mrs. James Campbell survive.
