    • Death of A Waterloo Pioneer

      The Hespeler correspondent of the Guelph Mercury says: - "We have just received word, though not in detail, of the death, on Saturday last, of Mr. Christian Hoffman, one of the Township of Waterloo's aged and most respected pioneers. Deceased was in his eighty-ninth year, and has been a resident of the township, about fifty miles from here, for about 70 years. He was father of Mrs. Anderson, wife of Mr. James Anderson, wagon maker of this village. The noble old stock, so instrumental in developing this county from a wilderness into its present high agricultural condition, are one by one passing away to what we trust will prove a better land of rest."
