      ALEXANDER B. ROBERTSON
was born in Wellesley Township on the farm now owned and occupied by him fifty-nine years ago. His parents, who were natives of the Highlands of Perthshire, near Dunkeld, Scotland, were among the early settlers of the township coming to Canada in 1844. Mr. Robertson was brought up on the farm, and received an education in the public schools. On the death of his father in 1868 he took possession of the farm and successfully operated it until two years ago, when he retired from the active duties of farming. In 1892 Mr. Robertson was elected to the township council, resigning in 1894 to accept the nomination of the Liberals of North Waterloo to contest the seat in the legislature and was elected by one of the largest majorities in the history of the riding. He retired four years later after serving his constituents with acceptance. He was not long to be left in retirement, being reelected to the township council some time after, and now holds the position of reeve. pg 32
