  BALLIN, AUGUSTUS THEODORE was born in Germany, and was 49. years of age in 1861, according to the census of that year. His card first appears in Der Deutsche Canadier of November 20, 1845: Augustus Theodore resides in the house of Mr. Henry Liersch, Lower Street, Wilmot Township, and most respectfully begs to offer to the Public his services as Practitioner in Medicine Surgery and Midwifery. On January 11, 1850 he inserted a notice requesting immediate settlement of his accounts, as he was returning to Germany, giving his address a Hamburg. By 1859 he had returned, this time being referred to as residing in Petersburg An item in Berliner Journal on July 29, 1869 would appear to indicate that he had returned to Germany to stay, reporting that he was in Rothenburg, Electorate of Hesse Dr. Alexander D.
