Notes |
- Fatal Accident in Hespeler
As Mr Nahrgang, postmaster, Hespeler, was attempting on Thursday night, to get on the train which passes that place about half-past eight, he fell and sustained a severe compound-fracture of the leg, a little above the ankle joint. Mortification set in immediately after the accident, and as his medical attendant was aware that amputation would be of no avail to save the patient's life, the operation was not performed. He lingered till half-past 4 o'clock this (Tuesday) morning, when death put an end to his suferings. The deceased leaves a wide circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his untimely end. He was father-in-law of Mr. W. J. McCurry of this place. The remains will be interred with Masonic honours, (of which order he was a member) at 5 p..m.,. tomorrow afternoon. Brethren from Galt and other places will take part in the imposing ceremony. Parties leaving Guelph by the 2:50 train can return in the evening.
