They lived there for 6 years, in this time 2 of their children died and 2 more were born. I am also interested in finding the ship they traveled on and if they actually landed in Hamilton.   Robert Shannon, an aged gentleman who has been residing with the family of his daughter, Mrs. Hazard, on Eighth St., died at 1:15 last night. He had been failing in health for many weeks, and finally gave up the struggle last night... Mr. Shannon was a native of Ireland. He was born there Sept. 9, 1809, and removed to Canada in 1849. In 1855 he came to Whiteside county and has resided here almost continually since. He was a farmer of Genesee (township) for many years and there brought up a family of eleven sons and daughter, of which only three remain; Thomas Y., an extensive farmer of Sterling township, Hugh, a large farmer and stock raiser of Coleta, and Mrs. Hazard of this city (Sterling). The tolls of farm life became too burdensome for Mr. Shannon so he spent his later years peacefully in this city. His wife died eight years ago.
