  ALLSHIRE, Thomas.- Came to Canada from Ireland in the fifties and located at Ratho. He was a carpenter by trade and fulfilled most of the contracts in connection with the Church of the Parish, notably St. George's, New Hamburg, St. James' and the Rectory. He was a man of sterling integrity and had the confidence of the entire community. Church of England, An Historical Sketch of the Parish of Wilmot 1828-1913, Diocese of Huron, Ontario, New Hamburg, Canada by Charles James Fox, Sep 1913 _______________ The family of the late Arthur Barber have put a beautiful stained glass window in the lower part of the tower of St. James' church, Huron road, in memory of their father and mother, and Mr. Thomas Allshire, of Ratho, has put in a handsome memorial window in memory of his wife.
