- ALLSHIRE, Thomas.- Came to Canada from Ireland in the fifties and located at Ratho. He was a carpenter by trade and fulfilled most of the contracts in connection with the Church of the Parish, notably St. George's, New Hamburg, St. James' and the Rectory. He was a man of sterling integrity and had the confidence of the entire community.

The family of the late Arthur Barber have put a beautiful stained glass window in the lower part of the tower of St. James' church, Huron road, in memory of their father and mother, and Mr. Thomas Allshire, of Ratho, has put in a handsome memorial window in memory of his wife. The ladies of the congregation have lately put in a handsome, carved oak Communion table and railings.
